NLR Parks and RecreationUnmanned Aerial Systems

Drones, Quadcopters, RC Airplanes, Model Rockets

Each of these is a type of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and has regulations from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) about the type of UAV and where and when it can be flown, and other safety regulations.  The North Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department has therefore created rules and guidelines about the use of UAVs in city parks.

Drones, Quadcopter, RC Airplanes and Helicopters

These UAVs cannot be launched, landed, or operated within a city park without written permission. Police, Fire, Emergency Services, and City employees are exempt while conducting their official duties.

Written permission can be obtained by completing a request orm and returning it to the Parks Department.

Model Rockets

Model rockets will only be permitted at the Burns Park Soccer Complex in Quad 4. Restrictions are placed on time of day, day of week, and engine size. Please complete the application form and return it to the Parks Department.
