Chief Tucker is a 30 year veteran of the fire service. He has been both a paid and volunteer firefighter. He served as the Fire Department's Training Captain for 16 years before being promoted to Assistant Chief in 2016. He was chosen by Mayor Joe Smith to lead the department in 2017.

Assistant Chief Beau Buford - (501) 340-5383

Hired in 1993, Assistant Chief Buford oversees the daily operations of the NLRFD.  He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's Degree in Public Administration.  He is a certified Paramedic, Hazardous Materials Technician and Paramedic Instructor.  He has served as Training Officer, Driver and Captain.  Assistant Chief Buford is a military veteran with over 30 years of service in the Army Reserve.  He is a graduate of the U.S. Sergeant Major's Academy - Class 38. 

Training Captain - Captain Billy Jones - (501) 340-5386
 Captain Jones, with a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medical Sciences from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, supervises all phases of training, ensuring that fire department members are properly trained in fire suppression, rescue operations, emergency medical, and hazardous materials response.  He also serves as the Health and Welfare Officer for the department and as point of contact for the Citizens Fire Academy. He is a National Registry Paramedic, EMS Instructor, and Fire Instructor. He has over 25 years of municipal and volunteer firefighting and EMS experience. He is the department's principal grant writer, securing over 4 million dollars in grants over the past four years. Captain Jones was born and raised in the Indian Hills neighborhood of North Little Rock, and enjoys giving back to the community that raised him.

Staff Captain - Captain Ricky Cranford, (501) 340-5410
Captain Ricky Cranford was hired April 3, 1996. After serving as a firefighter and Lieutenant throughout the years, he was promoted to Administrative Staff Captain in 2015. He is the Department Recruiter, Hazmat Coordinator, GIS Coordinator, maintains the department’s computer programs and department needs.  Captain Cranford is also the Fire Department’s liaison to the NLR Communication Center.

Cindy has been with the NLRFD since November 1998. She serves as both the Fire Chief’s assistant and the HR, payroll contact for NLRFD personnel and manages all accounts payables.

Fire Marshal's Office

Location: 500 West 26th Street

The Fire Marshal’s Office (FMO) is responsible for fire prevention and education.  This includes presenting fire safety presentations, fire extinguisher training and children's fire safety outreach.  The FMO represents the Fire Department at Planning Commission and Development Review Committee meetings.  The FMO conducts on-site inspections to ensure fire code compliance for new construction, remodels, sprinkler systems, alarm systems and kitchen suppression systems. The FMO conducts investigations to determine cause and origin of fires. The FMO investigates arson and pursues criminal prosecution in conjunction with the NLR Detective's Office. The FMO is responsible for review of construction, alarm and sprinkler plans. It issues burn permits and coordinates public fire prevention programs and public relations.

Fire Marshal - Captain Jerry Robinson, (501) 812-5940
Chief Robinson has been with the NLR Fire Department since August 10, 1995. During his tenure with the fire department, Chief Robinson rose through the ranks of Firefighter, Lieutenant and Captain. He has served the citizens of North Little Rock for over 24 years on a fire suppression apparatus and a heavy rescue apparatus prior to transitioning to the Fire Marshal's Office. Chief Robinson is a nationally registered Paramedic, a Haz-Mat Tech, a Paramedic Instructor, certified Fire Investigator and has had building life safety training in preparation for his leading role in plan review, fire education and fire protection in the city. Chief Robinson is an expert in sprinkler plan review, fire alarm plan review and kitchen suppression plan review. Chief Robinson not only serves this community but also serves as a volunteer firefighter in his home community.

Captain Almon has been with the North Little Rock Fire Department since May 12, 1994. He has risen in the ranks from Firefighter to Lieutenant to Captain. 

Deputy Fire Marshal - Lieutenant Dustin Free (501) 812-5942
Lt. Free joined the North Little Rock Fire Department on February 19, 1999. He is a certified Law Enforcement officer, certified Fire Investigator and life safety code inspector as well as an expert on sprinkler plan review, fire alarm plan review and kitchen suppression plan review. Lt. Free is an EMT and has served on not only the NLR Fire Department but also serves as Chief Fire Marshal for his hometown volunteer fire department. LT. Free serves as a Public Information Officer as well as liason for the fire department in outreach for special events, special projects and within city departments. 

Senior Office Assistant - Peggy Borel, (501) 340-5377Peggy has been employed by the NLR Fire Department since 2004. She manages the scheduling for all public events, inspections and coordinates meetings, conferences and activities within the Fire Marshal's Office. She issues burn permits, plan review permits and fire reports. 

Public Information Office

Captain Billy Jones and Lt. Dustin Free serve as NLRFD’s Public Information Officers (PIO).  They are  responsible for disseminating information to the public and the media.

Battalion Chiefs

Three Battalion Chiefs command their respective crews. Each shift consists of 11 stations and 13 units. Battalion Chiefs direct and supervise the fire fighting force, including emergency incidents involving structure fires, hazardous materials response, river incidents, vehicle accidents, emergency medial response and lifesaving rescue work. Each Battalion Chief brings with them many years of emergency and management experience.

A Crew Battalion Chief - Alfred Cerrato

Chief Cerrato is a 36 year veteran of the NLRD. He has an Associate's Degree in Fire Science and is a certified Emergency Medical Technician. Chief Cerrato has been a Battalion Chief since 2006.

B Crew Battalion Chief - Phil Pounders

Chief Pounders began his Fire Department career in 1985.  He was promoted to Battalion Chief in 2009.  He has certifications for Chief Fire Officer, Public Information Officer, Safety Officer, EMT, and Hazmat Tech.  He is also a Type 3 Safety Officer with the Arkansas All-Hazard Incident Management Team. Chief Pounders developed the Fire Department’s Citizen’s Fire Academy - the first in the State.  He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ouachita Baptist University in Business Administration and in Economics.

C Crew Battalion Chief - Rick Albers

Chief Albers was hired in 1990 and promoted to Battalion Chief in March of 2018.  He is a Special Operations Team Member and a multi-disciplined Rescue Technician in the following specialties:  Rope, Trench, Confined Space, Structural Collapse and Swift Water.  He is a member of the Central Arkansas Task Force 1 USAR Team, EMT and a certifed Fire Instructor.  Chief Albers is a US Air Force Veteran, serving four years as a Titan II Launch Crew Member.
